Europe: Getting there

On Sunday afternoon, April 28th, we jumped in the car with Kory and Mallory and drove down to Burbank. Having just graduated two days before, it all seemed like a whirlwind! We pulled in late that night and spent the next day finishing up the final preparations: converting money, printing boarding passes, eating breakfast burritos, watching reality TV, and basically soaking up America. The next day we took off for the airport around noon and boarded our plane on April 30th at 6:20 pm! Off to Istanbul. Now, we were a little nervous about our airline, Turkish Airlines, for multiple reasons, but they ended up being wonderful (once we actually got on the plane). Hot towels, Turkish Delights (a Turkish treat), toiletries, good food, and all the movies/TV shows/music you could imagine. It was heaven! Then we landed. Next was our 24 hour layover in Turkey. What an adventure. I think we decided that next time we would "splurge" and pay the extra couple hundred for a more convenient flight. Nonetheless, it was an adventure, and on June 2nd, we landed in Rome!

Getting ready to leave the US!

Trying to sleep in Turkey. Not so successful.

So excited to finally be in Rome!
